Manifold Source Valve

    Reference:   NFPA 99 2015 edition 5.1.4.2.1,  A shutoff valve shall be placed at the immediate connection of each source system to the piped distribution system to allow the entire source, including all accessory devices (e.g., air dryers, final line regulators), to be isolated from the facility.


    Does anyone else have a problem with the New Amico manifold source valves, they thread directly into the top of the manifold and once installed the manifold cannot be removed without cutting the distribution piping downstream of the source valve ?

    Hello Larry:


    I do understand you question and have reviewed this myself several times.


    Most all the manufacturer of modern day medical gas manifolds are suppling this type source valve.


    1) full port.

    2) three piece

    3) clean for oxygen use.

    4) with a brazed connect on patient side and a threaded connections on the manifold side.


    This in my opinion is compliant with NFPA 99 Codes.


    The requirement for this source valve is based on the pipeline distribution system.

    Which starts at the source valve and continues to the patient outlets and inlets.

    So, the upstream side of the source valve can have threaded connections.

     When you put in this type of manifold you may want to make sure you have a mainline valve.
