B819 pipe contaminated from the manufacturer

    Dear friends, we have been experiencing a recurring problem in Mexico with the ASTM B819 certified pipeline by the manufacturers IUSA and NACOBRE, when testing the pipes that they deliver the result is unimaginable, you can see it for yourselves in the photos and videos, When a clean cloth is passed, some dirt can be seen, however when it is soaked in alcohol the result is impressive, not only dirt, but also copper particles. I have indicated to the manufacturers but they simply say that they give the B819 certificate. What is your experience in these types of situations?

    How many of us have performed this test?


    Might it be possible to fail this test and pass the required tests?

    To Jim's point, I think it might be possible to still pass the tests.  Our particulate test is OK, but this "dirt" is being held there by something - as José says you need to swab with alcohol to pull it up.  That may not be detectable in our very crude total hydrocarbons test - it is far too loosy goosy to show any but the most gross contamination from reasonably volatile oils.

    Giving a certificate saying they comply with the CGA G-4.1 is very different than actually cleaning as per the requirements of CGA G-4.1. No way that pipe was cleaned after it was manufactured.
