A Category 3 facility is to change to a Category 1:

Is there a problem with removing the existing oxygen and nitrous oxide outlets in  one (now to be a surgery room), and then place portable oxygen and nitrous oxide tanks in that surgical suite (i.e., tank stand, cylinder, regulator and hose)?

On issue might by that they can only have one tank per smoke compartment other than small ones.

You could convert it by using one H oxygen and one H nitrous oxide and  keep the E tanks on your anesthesia machine.  Why did you remove your oxygen and nitrous oxide and outlets to begin with?  What are you doing for vacuum?

    Hi Steve,

Cylinders in use do not count when calculating cylinders for storage requirements.

A.11.3.2 When determining the volume of storage, do not consider cylinders and containers that are in use.  Only the volume of stored gas that is in excess of 300 ft3 is required to be located in an enclosure, since 11.3.3 already permits up to 300 ft3 without any special storage requirements.
