Does the code requirement for Section # 5.3.4 Emergency Shutoff Valves for 2015 NFPA 99. Now required all Categories 3, to be valved per a Category 1 ?

Yes, like many other NFPA 99 sections, this points back to Category 2, and then Category 1 facility valve requirements.

So Category 3 facilities will need to have the same valves as Cat. 1 and 2, with the exceptions listed.

Careful!  Remember that this applies ONLY to the patient gases (Oxygen and nitrous)  It does NOT apply to any "dental" gases or to vacuum.

Keep in mind that's only if it's remote.

Right on, Don.   Whatever "remote" means...;-)

They are not called zone valves in category 3 because they are not the same thing.  A dental manifold that is not remote does not require any valves, not even a source valve.

Look at figure A.5.3.12 Examples of Storage/Supply Enclosures in the 2012 edition.

If it is not remote then you need to turn the tanks off every night.

Remote is considered where you must go out side the building into the exposed elements to get to the tanks. ( you cannot access it without putting on your galoshes )( or snowsuit at this time of year )
