    Are there any recommended procedures for installing a future valve without shutting down the supply system?

    This has always been the million dollar question.

    But let's review NFPA 99 Chapter 5 section # 5.1.10.11.12.1 & .2:

    Remember their are times, we may be required to preform # 5.1.12.3.7

     

    I would advise caution.

    If it is an oxygen system you need to evaluate in accordance with 5.1.2. Hot tapping an oxygen system is an accident waiting to happen. People might say we do it all the time and nothing has happened. That is one of the first statements I hear when I am doing an oxygen fire investigation. I wouldn't go near this practice.
