Typical systems use a dew point purge control that takes information from the dew point monitor output and controls the allowing of purge only after the dew point rises to a predetermined value. These vary from manufacture, but usually you will see that a rise of dew point to the +10 F will start the purge. The Beacon HMD type dryers are really dew point suppression style and will usually settle in at about 100 F below the inlet process air temperature.
