I'm waiting on documentation from a construction company that says this is NFPA 99 compliant. Going by the 2012 code or any other for that matter. Does anybody have any experience or justification for these being allowed for medical use. I don't believe the code supports it.

    Well this should be fun.

Note this item first showed up in the 2002 Edition

NFPA 99 (2012) is clear on the requirement for medical support gases ( N2 & IA )

    Section # 3.3.109 Definitions

Section # 5.1.3.9  Instrument Air Supply Systems

The wording or standards for a NITROGEN GENERATOR are not found.

    Table 5.1.12.3.11  Gas Concentrations

    Medical Gas Concentration
    Oxygen ≥99% oxygen
    Nitrous oxide ≥99% nitrous oxide
Nitrogen ≤1% oxygen or ≥99% nitrogen
    Medical air 19.5%–23.5% oxygen
Other gases As specified by ±1%, unless otherwise specified

NFPA does not specify the production of gas just the criteria that it needs to meet.

Nitrogen generators can meet NFPA requirements.

If the installer, is required to use only Nitrogen NF.

One would think only NF Nitrogen, would be used for the medical support gas Nitrogen on the Gas Manifold System.

( i.e. have you ever see non NF Nitrogen on a Nitrogen Manifolds Systems ? )

The verifier has to use a oxygen analyzer with the accuracy of plus or -1%. Does the hospital have to use an O2 analyzer with plus or -1%?

We want to deliver good clean product to the facilities. A nitrogen generator will deliver good clean product to the facility.

Closing for the 2021 Edition of NFPA 99 is near.

    (I believe June 28, 2018)

Nitrogen Generators to date, are not listed in NFPA 99.

Sources for Medical Support Gases in the Codes, are only NF Nitrogen or IA.

The time to fill out the form is now.
